Operational Learning Solutions brings over 42 years experience in the rail industry spanning Safeworking operations from train crew and train controller aspects, risk based Safeworking implementation, review and design.

OLS has a strong background in adult learning and development strategies and methodologies. We also offer consulting services in risk management and project management.

Andrew Brice
Director

As the Director of Operational Learning Solutions Pty Ltd, Andrew brings 25 years of operational Safeworking rail experience in the following roles, Train crew (1982 – 1993), Train Control (1993 – 2001) and Operation Learning and Development (2001 – 2006).

Andrew, during his time with QR, has managed state-wide operational projects and consulted for national and international projects, drawing on his extensive operational Safeworking background, in his role as Senior Learning and Development Consultant in the Learning and Development section of QR.

Specialised skills and knowledge that Andrew brings to Operational Learning Solutions Pty Ltd. Include:

Dan McKell
Director

Dan has 17 years experience in the rail industry.  He has previously worked for QR and delivers a wealth of experience in the position of Director with Operational Learning Solutions Pty Ltd. He has delivered for QR in the roles of Transport Operations (1990-1993), Train Controller (1993-2000), Safeworking Project Manager (2000-2002) and Train Control Centre Supervisor (2002-2007).

During his time with QR, Dan was instrumental in the development of Safeworking rules and procedures, as well as the development of district specific operating plans.  He has overseen major change projects that saw QR migrate to a new Train Control Safeworking System.  Until recently, he was part of the Management Team in QRs’ Townsville Network Control Centre.

Dan brings the following specialised knowledge and skills to Operational Learning Solutions:

• Review and develop Safeworking rules and procedures
• Risk Assessment
• Project management for major operational change projects
• Develop and expand skill and knowledge base for operational staff
• Coordination of network wide train and infrastructure movements
• Management experience in various areas of the rail industry
